Imitating a phrase

Original: Rather than continue my praise of their younger daughter, Valentina, who cooked alongside them at their small, local hotel, I sat back with the luxury of eyes narrowing in the island sun.

Imitation: Rather than wake up to have dinner, which was so tasty, I stayed in bed and kept dreaming about my future.

Response to the article " Mediterranean food "

This article is interesting. I was a little bit biased at the beginning so I took some time to realize whether repetition is good or bad. However, with some examples later, it was clear that the author praises the lack of surprise of the Mediterranean food. I don’t know whether it would be good to eat the same thing everyday or not. I might probably get sick of the food too quickly unless the food tastes really good. Anyway, it seems to contrast the author’s ideas, which are advocate of repetition. Also, I wonder how cook can be predictable and, at the same time, be capable of refreshing.

Food Memory

It was on a Friday after three about hours siting on the same chair. My friends and I stumbled into a Brazilian restaurant called Fogo de chao. It was not the first time we went to that restaurant. Actually, that was the second time, which means that we already knew the proceedings of that   place. We walked in and the restaurant was crowded. This didn’t bother us since we were only concerned about eating. So we chose a table and started the journey. There was rice, black beans and a salad bar besides the meat menu. It’s important to remember that the Fogo de Chao is famous for its grilled meat. They provided us desserts like pao de queijo and other kinds. We started eating and after 2 hours we looked around and the place was empty.

Quick Write -- Banquet

If I were going to putting on a huge banquet, I would want my guests to have good time and enjoy a delicious meal. Therefore, my choice for the food would be a plate typical from Portugal, I guess. It’s called “Arroz de pato”.  It’s basically made of rice and duck. Moreover, there are many other ingredients, such as cheese, bacon, etc. I would choose this plate as the main plate of the banquet not only because it’s delicious but also because it is the kind of meal that you can eat as much as you want and you are less likely to get stuff. In other words, this kind of plate doesn’t make you feel stuff too quickly. To go with the main plate, I would choose a lot of desserts. For instance, I would want to have diverse desserts such as ice cream, pastry cakes, “salgadinhos”, etc. In addition to the desserts, I would want to have a lot of shellfish such as shrimps, crabs, etc. Since people are not only made of food, I would have to have some beverages to go with my menu. I would choose to have some liquor, maybe some soda and I great deal of juice. The flavors of the juices would vary from flavors typical from Angola, such as mukua juice to commonplace flavors such as orange juice, lemonade, mango juice, etc. Also, I would hire a Dj to play some dancing music. That way people will not only eat and drink but also dance. This would be enough to make the banquet the best feast ever.

"In-the-place" descriptive quick write

Here I am facing the entrance of the union building’s foyer while sitting on a metal chair around a metal table. A few others tables and chairs stand around me. Some of them are occupied. Others are empty. A “device” in the shape of an umbrella covers the tables. A nice day is coming to an end. It will soon be replaced by the night. Lights on gray poles are waiting for the day to surrender so they can shine. People are coming and going. Big trees with branches stronger than the concrete on the floor are all around me. The floor is like a table of chess with dark and light brown squares. Before I forget, there is a garden in which the trees have their roots. This garden, not surprisingly, is green, full of plants that in my country are called palmeiras.  There are other green plants on my left, which are each in a spot made of metal. The plants seem to be shoots. Cars flow on Guadalupe Street on my right. Across the Guadalupe Street I can read all the letters, mostly in red, black, white, and others in gold colors that give name to their stores. Behind the stores is a white building, where I stay. Behind me is the Methodist church in the same color as the walls of the Union building’s walls. By the way, the Union building’s walls having seashells marks on remind me fossils because of the way seashells marks are spread throughout the walls.

Descriptive Quick Writing

I’m in my place, the one that I was fascinated about when I first entered in. It still feels cozy;
Like a place where you feel like you belong to;
A place where everybody is welcome;
Is there where I want to be when I feel like a welcomed person;
A place in which I find my spot;
And my spot could be the chair or my bed;
My chair is a lovely one always willing to relax you with its “usual balancing”- going smoothly back and forth in its rhythm;

My bed! My cozy bed always well disposed to welcome me.

Feeling Like Writing.

Today I feel like writing, so I'm writing. I want to spend a minute thinking about why I feel like writing. I guess it has mostly to do with the mood in my room. Specifically, the fact that I'm listening to music. I just realized that the music propelled me to write. That's a wonderful discovery! Now, I wonder if I can write a formal essay while listening to music. I"ll bet I can. I mean, As far as the music is inspiring. Before I forget: perhaps the fact that outside is a nice day influenced me to write as well. I guess it is enough of talking about "motivating factors" for writing. It sounds boring. I don't think any one will be interested in this if I keep talking about " motivating factors". Interestingly, I don't think I have an interesting topic either. So here is the question: why am I writing? I guess the answer is clear. In fact, I have mentioned it at the beginning: because I feel like writing. Here I go again: talking about why I am writing. Sometimes I get impressed by the way I can be redundant. It's simply amazing. By the way, I open to suggestions about " combating this terrible habit" which is, indeed, one of the main causes of "bored writings".Ok! Since I am really concerned about being bored, I'd better stop writing…
I'm done !
      Gone!
Thanks.

Sketch of a Biography about me

I always wanted to talk about my self; however, I don’t think much to talk about myself. But I want to talk about me just to see how it sounds like. Maybe, I would write and then read just to see how I sound like or how my story sound like. Therefore, if I were to talk about myself I would start by describing me as a person. Actually, I’m not sure whether to write a biography as a writer or as a person. But, I’m really positive that a biography must be something about someone as a person rather than as writing as a “single activity”. Here I go. I would say I’m a intelligent person. I don’t if I’m able to write about without pointing my virtues. There might a name for this ilk of people. I hope I’m not being arrogant by stating that I’m an intelligent person. In fact, I believe that I have humility deep in my brain. In addition to who I think I’m, I think I’m a hard worker. Reason for that is because I think that everything we do is not worth without goals.
